Who
My last name is Stene (pronounced steen.) I have written for newspapers, magazines, and video production. I made excellent money (for a writer) from writing that few (well, most likely not many people that you know) have heard of – Hydrogen Sulfide Standard Operating Procedure, Crane Operations, Hazmat Response. This standard operating procedure list goes on, and on.
I’ve also had this life-long obsession with figuring out how to do things all by myself. I once had a plan to “borrow” a small airplane and take a DIY flight lesson.
I didn’t need a flight instructor because? Because I had read and re-read a how-to-fly library book. I had practiced the motions while sitting in a living room chair. I had a bicycle. There was an uncontrolled airport about seven miles away. I was 12. Thankfully a bit of laziness struck just in time. The picture is from a semi-legal flight a number of years later.
How, When and Where
